How To Become A Yoga Instructor

How To Become A Yoga Instructor

Becoming a yoga instructor can be a fulfilling and exiting way to earn a living. Most yoga teachers love what they do and enjoy the freedom of being self-employed. Many wonder “how to become a yoga instructor” and they do not know where to begin. One should first have exposure to yoga and the philosophy by first attending classes themselves and indulging in the culture. Taking an official and accredited yoga training course to prepare yourself to be an instructor would be the next step. Finally, you will need to pursue work by marketing yourself to establishments or opening your own yoga studio.

Truly understanding yoga and knowing that it is right for you entails becoming a student first for a considerable amount of time. Many could join a yoga instructor training course and realize after the course and wasted time and financial loss that yoga is not for them. This can be avoided by first becoming a student. Additionally, some training courses for instructors will not accept people who do not have at least a year or so experience with yoga. Enrolling in a local class as a regular student and soaking up as much as possible is the best first step in becoming a yoga instructor.

After one has a certain comfort level with yoga and understands all of the fundamentals and basics, the next step would be to attend an approved course in yoga instructor training. Yoga instructor programs that meet required criteria by the Yoga Alliance become registered. The Yoga Alliance is the premiere yoga organization for teachers and students. There are 200 hr and 500 hr training programs for teachers. The 200hr course is the minimum required for most yoga teachers to begin instructing at many locations and more experienced teachers may complete the 500 hr course. After completion of an approved yoga training program, the graduate is referred to as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). There are specialized types of yoga teaching such as Baptiste Power Yoga and Anusara. If you’re wondering how to become a yoga instructor in a specialty, the teacher normally completes their training program under the same specialty.

After an inspiring yoga teacher completes their training course and becomes a RYT, pursuing employment or work is the next and final step to become a yoga instructor. You can attempt to teach yoga at gyms, retreats, spas, for corporate clients, at prenatal centers, or give private lessons at student’s homes. There are many avenues and potential ways to go about teaching yoga. Some may become actual employees at large yoga studios, rent rooms at gyms, or open their own studio. As with all self-employment, going into business for yourself with yoga requires a business plan, discipline, and giving consideration to insurance, marketing, a physical location, and other relevant business details.

Teaching yoga can offer freedom, independence from low paying jobs or the corporate rat race, and peace of mind with making a living from something you love to do. Indulging in classes as a regular student, taking a Yoga Alliance registered teacher course, and a good business plan are all steps on “how to become a yoga instructor”.

Can You Freeze Cheese?

Can You Freeze Cheese

Buying food in bulk and then freezing it is a great way to save money, and keep food longer. Can you freeze cheese? That depends on the kind of cheese you want to freeze. Hard cheeses such as Mozzarella, Swiss, or Cheddar can be frozen with great success. Softer cheeses like brie, or cottage cheese tend to not do so well when taken out of the freezer. The reason being is that the water content in those cheeses can lead to the cream separating in them and thus changing the taste and texture of the cheese.

Can you freeze cheese in a plastic bag? The best method for freezing cheese isn’t a plastic bag but in sturdy air tight food storage container. The cheese should be cut and divided up into several portions, because cheese will lose its taste if it’s frozen, thawed, used, and refrozen again. Making several portions to use for several meals is a good solution. Make sure that the cheese is warped well in plastic wrap before placing in the freezer bins, to help ensure freshness. The cheese can also be kept in its original packaging and placed in the freezer as is for quicker storage. Although cheese can be frozen up to 3 months, one it’s thawed its expiration time is shorter so be sure to use it right away. Before placing the cheese away mark the date when the cheese was bought to insure you’re not using year old cheese. To thaw the cheese, place it in the refrigerator overnight. If the cheese is left to thaw on the counter, the moister could cause mold to form on the cheese.

Can you freeze shredded cheese? Yes, those cheeses that come in bags can be popped in the freezer bags and all. Make sure that they aren’t soft cheeses. If you want to make shredded cheese with some of the cheese you’ll be freezing later, it’s best to shred the cheese now because when cheese comes out of the freezer it’s texture completely changes, it is near impossible to shred it then.

Can you freeze cheese slices? Cheese slices can be frozen, but will become hard to separate once thawed. To forgo this headache, consider place pieces of wax paper between each slice so that when thawed they come right apart.

Although the taste of the cheese will be the same, the feel and texture of the cheese once it’s been frozen and thawed isn’t the same. Cheese that has been frozen will become crumbly and should not be used for sandwiches, in party trays, or for crackers at parties. Using frozen cheese for casseroles, or sauces, or toppings on pizza’s, taco’s or burgers won’t make any difference and taste just the same. Frozen cheese is best for baking.

Make sure your cheese is free of mold when thawed, if your find that a corner of the cheese has some mold on it, just slice away the molded part and use as needed.

Dialysis Technician Information And More

Dialysis Technician

Dialysis technicians are a vital cog in the medical process of renal care. Working under the supervision of nurses or doctors, the dialysis tech takes care of the highly technical machines required to artificially cleanse a patient’s blood. Those suffering from kidney damage or ailments that cause waste products to collect in the blood stream require it to be cleaned out using a dialysis machine, which literally filters out the toxins. The nature of the human body means that this is something that has to be performed gradually over several hours. This also means it is a treatment that needs to be monitored.

Job Description
The responsibilities of a dialysis technician are diverse and require high levels of technical aptitude, physical endurance and good social skills. The first and foremost job of a dialysis tech is to maintain and sterilize the machinery. This is important in order to be sure that the dialysis machine is fully operable and will not cause potentially harmful infections to the patient. The ability to work with and advise the dialysis patient is vital to put them at ease and educate them as to things they can do to limit the frequency of their visits. This advice includes things like dietary information and lifestyle tips.

Along with monitoring the dialysis machines, the technician has to monitor the patient’s vital signs throughout the long blood cleansing process. This includes taking medical histories, checking on blood pressure and watching out for signs of medical distress. It is often possible that a technician may have several patients undergoing treatment at the same time, so they have to be physically capable of moving back and forth between machines and standing for long periods of time.

Training and Education
The basic academic requirement for starting a dialysis technician program is either a high school diploma or a GED. Training programs vary state to state, but a program must be accredited in order for technicians to receive clearance to work. Programs can be available in colleges, universities, technical schools or hospitals. Topics generally covered in courses include machine operation, chemistry of the body and in depth training on the renal system along with its related illnesses. Depending on the state, a dialysis technician will either have to achieve a diploma or be certified in order to practice. In order to keep current on new machinery and treatment methods, dialysis technicians often have to take regular refresher courses.

Above and beyond the technical and medical training required to become a technician, an applicant is often advised to take courses in social sciences. This is in order to help prepare the technician for the psychological aspects that come along with the job. Dealing daily with people who are often very ill and who may succumb to their ailments can be taxing on an emotional level. This makes it important to develop a certain level of detachment, while still being warm and caring towards patients.

Salary Level
The salary level for the average dialysis tech is between $26,000 and $34,000 a year. This, of course, is very dependent on experience level, work type and in which state the tech is certified. The more experienced a technician is, and the better their qualifications, the more they can potentially earn.

A Look At Post Polio Syndrome

Post Polio Syndrome

Following the development and administration of Salk and Sabin polio virus immunization it was believed by medical professionals that polio had been permanently eradicated in the United States since in the early 1960s a series of inoculations were routinely administered to three-month-old infants to be followed by periodic booster inoculations until six-years of age. Unfortunately little did the medical profession realize a related condition PPS (post polio syndrome) was about to rear its ugly head affecting individuals who contracted and survived poliomyelitis.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, of the 440,000 polio survivors in the United States 25 to 50 percent have begun to exhibit PPS signs and symptoms some 25 plus years after the initial onset of polio. Well-known author Arthur C. Clarke who contracted polio in 1959 was diagnosed with PPS in 1988. A  thirty-four-year-old female nurse employed by the National Institute of Health who contracted polio as a young child was diagnosed with PPS in 2009.

While the actual cause of PPS is unknown, all indications are that it only affects polio survivors. Even signs/symptoms such as fatigue, joint or muscle pain and overall general weakness or lethargy which might lead polio survivors to seek medical advice are not necessarily definitive PPS indicators. One of the main difficulties of a true PPS diagnosis stems from the fact that most general practitioners may not recognize or fail to associate these symptoms with PPS. Current research appears to indicate that individuals who contracted polio between seven to ten years of age have a fifty percent higher risk of developing PPS.

Diagnosis of Post Polio Syndrome must begin with review and evaluation of the patient’s initial polio history by a neurology or orthopedics professional. Advancements in medical testing have made the only tool, electromyography, used in initial polio evaluation to be seriously passe. The next step involves the extent of physical functionality recovery within the first year following initial polio onset and the length of subsequent stability prior to the appearance of possible PPS symptomatic indicators. The required elimination of other medical conditions such as pulmonary, respiratory, orthopedic and neuro-muscular difficulties is a long and time-consuming process. Individuals diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the shoulder or wrist may actually have PPS especially if arm or leg braces and/or Canadian crutches were used during the initial recovery period. Patients experiencing ‘Depression’ may actually have PPS due to the fact that PPS and ‘Depression’ exhibit very similar symptomatic signs.

While there is no known cure for PPS, there is a plethora of theories regarding PPS treatment   including the questionable reliability of MRI, CT, muscle biopsy, spinal fluid examination and pharmaceuticals. Massage and non-strenuous physical therapies only elicit short-term relief.  Improvement gained from using steroids and anti-convulsive medications in terms of benefits versus known side effects is yet to be determined. From the perspective of Post Polio Syndrome management, patient acceptance of the condition is of paramount importance. Family Counseling is strongly urged to enable the patient, as well as relatives and friends to move forward.

Puffy eyes can be unsightly and inconvenient. However, do not despair because there are effective ways on how to get rid of puffy eyes quickly:

Ice or ice cold water.  Plain ice-cold water is one of the best remedies on how to get rid of puffy eyes. To use ice, wrap the ice in a paper towel then place it on the puffy eyes.  Keep it there for about 5 to 10 minutes.  Ice can help reduce the inflammation.

If you do not have ice, you can use ice-cold water.  Wet cotton balls with ice water then apply them to the puffy eyes for the same amount of time.

Another alternative is using ice-cold milk.  Dip a cotton wool pad in the cold milk. Squeeze out the liquid. Put the pad in the puffy eye.  Dip it again if it gets warm. Do this for 15 minutes.  This will not only ease up the puffiness, it also brightens the eyes.

Cold Teabag.  Soak chamomile or black teabag in ice-cold water for at least 15 minutes.  A teabag contains tannin which is a natural astringent. This will constrict the blood vessels around the eyes and minimize swelling.

Saline solution.  Give the puffy eyes saline solution. To do this, add one teaspoon of salt to one pint of hot water. Let the salt dissolve. Dip the cotton buds in the saline solution. Put the pads in the affected area for at least 10 minutes.

Cold cream.  Put the eye cream in the refrigerator until it turns cold.  The coldness of the cream will help reduce the swelling. Press the affected eyelid gently to speed up fluid drainage.

Cucumber.  Slice cucumbers thinly.  Place the sliced cucumbers on top of the swelling eyes for 15-20 minutes.

Potato or apple. Slice potato or apple thinly.  Dip in ice-cold water before using. Place on the swollen eyelids for 10 to 15 minutes.  Potatoes can eliminate the ugly dark circles in the inflamed eyes. Apples contain pectin that works as an anti-oxidant.

Cold spoon.  Put two tablespoons in the refrigerator until they turn cold, usually 10-15 minutes.  Put the cold spoon on the swollen eye. When it turns warm, put it back to the refrigerator and repeat the procedure several times.

It is important to attend to puffy eyes immediately to prevent damaging the vessels.  If the blood vessels become damage, the results are irreparable.

These are some of the effective procedures on how to get rid of puffy eyes fast.  To get the best results, repeat the procedures several times a week.  Repeating them will help you attain permanent results.
